The Experience

A day built around contrast, control and environment.

This pairing is built around contrast rather than repetition. The day begins in the vertical space of The Pit, where depth, changing water layers and natural light define the descent. The second dive moves into the horizontal, decorated cavern environment of Dos Ojos. Depending on the planned route, the character may be brighter and more open or darker and more intimate. Together, the dives show two distinct expressions of the region’s freshwater geology: the scale and layered water of a deep vertical cenote, followed by limestone architecture shaped into passages, columns and chambers. Conditions, diver readiness and the day’s plan determine the final Dos Ojos route.

Dive 01

The Pit

A recreational descent through a vertical cenote environment to approximately 30 m. Natural sunlight may penetrate far into the water, revealing the scale of the shaft. The profile can cross a halocline and approach the hydrogen sulfide layer, creating a pronounced change in texture and atmosphere without descending to the cenote’s full depth.

Planned for approximately 45–50 minutes per dive, depending on conditions and air consumption

Dive 02

Dos Ojos

The planned dive follows either the Barbie Line or Bat Cave Line. Barbie is brighter and more open, with abundant natural light and limestone formations. Bat Cave has a darker, more intimate cavern feeling and reaches an internal air dome, where bats may be present above the water.

Planned for approximately 45–50 minutes per dive, depending on conditions and air consumption
